The Mi Sports Bluetooth Headset is Xiaomi's first attempt at making a headset for fitness junkies. The audio quality isn't bad ass as it is on their wired headsets but it is still good enough for workouts. I bought one as a replacement/backup for my LG HBS730 which unfortunately has started falling apart and isn't fully compatible with my TomTom Spark Cardio Music.

At the moment, the Mi Sports is only available in China and as such it does not come with an English Operation manual. Even the voice prompts are in chinese. I had a hard time setting it up but the Aliexpress seller I got it from was gracious enough to offer a few tips after which I learned the rest on my own.

Take note of the following please:

The USB Charging Port

The LED Light

The Volume/Track Control Buttons

The Multifunction Power Button

Press and hold down the multifunction power button until the LED Light comes on white then let go. In this mode, it will connect to whatever devices you have paired it with in the past. If you're just setting it up for the first time and you haven't paired any device yet, see the next point below.

With your headset switched off, press the power button and don't let go (even when the LED light turns white for a moment). Hold on until the LED Light is white and starts blinking really fast. How To Connect Two Devices To The Mi Sports Bluetooth Headset

This is a bit tricky but here is how it works for me.

To connect to another device, simply turn off bluetooth on one of the connected devices. Turn on another device which has been previously paired with the headset and it will automatically connect.

One thing I love about this feature is that it's quite intuitive in that when I'm playing music on the TomTom Spark Cardio Music and a call comes in on my phone, the music is automatically paused and audio focus is shifted to my phone so I can answer my calls easily.

NOTE: In my experience you can't play audio from the two connected devices at the same time. Samsung s8 led case user manual. Notifications from my phone sometimes mess with the music playing on my watch.

Soundpeats True Wireless Earbuds Manual

Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi Mi AirDots, a pair of wireless TWS Bluetooth earbuds. Judging from its looks and given features, the Mi Earbuds provide a really good first impression.
A little bit about TWS - What are the True Wireless Headphones?
TWS technology, It is connected with the main headphone through a smartphone or other devices, and then the main headphone would connect with the slave speaker via a Bluetooth wireless connection, to achieve true wireless Bluetooth for left and right channels separated of Bluetooth headphones. The program based on CSR Bluetooth4.0 with dual-mode module development. When not connected to the headphones, the main headphones stereo back monomers. It is no delay and good sound quality. It is designed to provide customers with stable performance characteristics of high-end Bluetooth loudspeaker programs. It needs 2 pcs Bluetooth modules with TWS function to realize it as below.
For TWS headphone, beside it is not wire connection, and the left and right earphone are independent individuals. When two separate headphones near each other, they can match automatically and shift to double channel stereo, which could give you high-quality sound. On the other hand, true wireless headphones need not a line to charge, normally, they could directly charge on its built-in high capacity lithium battery box can. You would not worry about the signal problem when using TWS headphones, because there's a 10-meter range of the signal. Xiaomi Mi AirDots: Box Contents and Design
  • A charging dock
  • Two pairs of Silicone Eartips

The Xiaomi Mi AirDots belong to the true wireless earbud category, without any wire connecting the earbuds to each other or even to any other device. The AirDots have a small, sleek design without any sharp edges and come in Xiaomi’s signature white color. They are made out of plastic and have soft rubber covers on the edges making them comfortable and a perfect fit.

Weighing just slightly over 4 grams and they do not feel bulky at all during normal daily usage. The AirDots come with a touchpad to control the earbuds. There are an LED indicator and two contact charge points. The charging dock is white and made out of plastic. The case allows us to charge the Mi AirDots and while also serving as a power bank. The extra pair of silicone ear tips is useful, especially for those having ears of different size or simply having different wear preferences. The extra options enable the user to have a comfortable and a perfect fit. The charging cable is a USB-to-micro USB type and can be used with any smartphone’s adapter.

Sound Check (Quality)
The Xiaomi Mi AirDots have a small bridge which fits into the ear perfectly. Hence they feel more comfortable, but sometimes outside sound can be heard while listening to low volume audio. It comes with 7.2 mm dynamic speakers which can support explosive audios and high bass. Xiaomi Mi AirDot review. According to Xiaomi, the AirDots support TWS (True Wireless Stereo) which enables the left and right earbud to receive signals separately providing us true stereo sound. Hence the sound quality of the AirDots is pretty decent without losing any high and low frequencies.

Microphone Check
Having a quality microphone is also essential as we do not always use earbuds for just entertainment. Answering calls or simply chatting with anyone through the AirDots provide a nice hands-free experience. In such cases, the high-quality microphone is quite essential to have a clear and precise conversation. Due to the small design of the Xiaomi Mi AirDots, it captures the echo. Even then, while using them with any smartphone, we get a high volume, clear sound without any distortions. The noise cancellation is bad. I am unable to find any earphones till date which has proper noise cancellation. If you guys have any suggestion please mention below.
  • Single Press – This allows the user to answer an incoming call and to play or pause the music.
  • Long press – This allows the user to hang up on the incoming call.
  • Two short presses – This enables the user to mute the sound during a call or to turn on Xiaomi’s exclusive assistant – the Xiao AI.

The Xiao AI is extremely efficient and useful as it can help the user to type and send text messages and call others through predefined voice commands. However, I am unable to use them due to language & that's one of the cons you have to face when you order things that are not launched in India. When taken out, the AirDots from the charging dock, they can automatically connect to the latest available device and when we put them back into it, they automatically get disconnected and start charging.

Take out both the earphones from the charging box, wait for 2-3 seconds. The earphones will automatically start up in series and when the right earphone white light flashes slowly, turn on the device's Bluetooth, search for 'MIARDOTS BASIC-R', and click to complete the connection. If the connection fails, put the headset back in the charging box and repeat the above step. After the first connection, the headset can be automatically connected back to the last paired device (Bluetooth needs to be turned on.) If the automatic connection fails, please use the manual operation mode.
The steps to connect are the same as mentioned above, the only difference would be to use single earphone.
Note: The left earphone (L) automatically reconnects for a relatively long time.

The following functions can be operated when the left and right earphones can operate to answer/hang up the phone call, touch the touch panel to answer the call: touch the touch panel to hang up the phone. When you want to reject a call during a call, press and hold the touch panel for about 1 second. Long press for 1 second.

Play/pause music in standby mode, tap the touch panel to play/pause music Note: The music player needs to be running in the background.
Tap to turn on the voice assistant in standby mode, tap the touch panel twice. Note: The device needs to support the voice function and turn on the quick wake-up setting. Tap twice.

Overall the AirDots are nice true wireless earphones for a very cheap price, the build quality is great as other Mi products, it offers competitive audio quality to be used when jogging, at gym workouts or with trips on public transports, and battery life is good as Xiaomi claims. I am so happy that I ordered a pair and they fit my daily usage scenarios perfectly.
  • Great audio quality with the right sources.
  • Communication range is good (ironically could be the only perk).
  • Great value for the price point.

  • Music could sound slightly worse with the wrong device/audio format combos.
  • Huge turn off as only Chinese voiceovers is used as feedback sound instead of beeping patterns.
  • No multi-source support.

With Love,
