The Mettler Toledo Excellence Series Analytical Balance is connected to the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface using a 9-pin male cable connector. The output of the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal. Connecting the SmartCable Keyboard with its built-in keyboard wedge to a computer allows the Mettler Toledo XP / XPE Series Balance to be identified as a keyboard device.

This SmartCable™ USB Keyboard single gage interface can send data to any Microsoft Windows application - no software wedge required. The SmartCable™ Keyboard will make the Mettler Toledo XP / XPE Series Balance readings appear as if they were typed in using a standard keyboard to eliminate data collection errors. To collect data into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or Explorer based SPC program, just select the cell where you want the data to appear and trigger the reading. It is truly plug and play!

Pressing the PRINT button on the Mettler Toledo Excellence Balance
Pressing the button on the SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface
Depressing a connected footswitch (not included)

Mettler Toledo Calibration Instructions

A detailed operation manual is included with this SmartCable™ Keyboard gage interface. This SmartCable Keyboard is easily configured to output data in different output modes on your spreadsheet such as, CR, TAB, up, down, left, or right. The output mode is selected by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable™ Keyboard. To access the rotary switch simply remove the top cover by loosening two Phillips screws. The LED Indicator lights aid the user with the operation of the SmartCable™ gage interface.

Lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. Six foot standard cable length with special lengths readily available on request.

Advanced Systems & Designs normally sets the SmartCable™ Keyboard at the factory to the default settings on the Mettler Toledo Excellence Series Analytical Balance. The SmartCable™ Keyboard and Mettler Toledo XP / XPE Excellence Analytical Balance must be set to the same values for communication to occur. Refer to the Mettler Toledo XP / XPE Excellence Analytical Balance user manual and standard interface command set for additional information on external communication.
