Description

The Honeywell L5000 is a LYNX Touch wireless alarm control panel with an integrated graphic touchscreen alarm keypad. As the L5000 is an alarm control panel and keypad in one unit, it is also known as an all-in-one or self-contained wireless security system. The LYNX Touch is the first self-contained wireless security system to feature a graphic touchscreen display. The graphic icons and user friendly menus make the L5000 a great do-it-yourself (DIY) friendly alarm control panel.

A wireless alarm control panel is much easier to install when compared to a wired alarm control panel. Instead of mounting the metal alarm cabinet with the alarm control panel circuit board installed inside, and then also wiring an alarm keypad out to a remote location, the LYNX Touch wireless alarm control panel has the circuit board and keypad integrated together in a single plastic housing. To install the L5000, all you need to do is plug the alarm control panel into a standard wall outlet using the included AC power supply and mount the LYNX Touch control panel on the wall.

The Honeywell LYNX Touch wireless alarm control panel has a built-in wireless receiver and is therefore compatible with all Honeywell 5800 series wireless devices. You can program up to (63) wireless zones to be monitored by your L5000 alarm control panel. The L5000 also has capability to monitor (1) hardwired zone which would be wired directly to the LYNX Touch wireless alarm control panel. The LYNX Touch is even compatible with the bi-directional wireless devices such as the Honeywell 5828 or Honeywell 5828V wireless alarm keypads. You can program up to (16) user codes which will provide various levels of control for your L5000 wireless alarm control panel. The first user code is the installer code which is used to access all programming menus. The second user code is the master code which is used for user menu programming. The master code is also used to assign the other (14) user codes which include a babysitter code and a duress code.

The Honeywell wireless alarm control panel has a built-in speaker which provides live audible system status messages so you always know what is happening with your wireless security system.

During an alarm event, the L5000 speaker will also provide voice annunciation of the zone that was activated using the programmed zone number or the custom voice descriptor. The same internal speaker will also provide the 110 dB alarm siren which will sound with any audible alarm activation. You cannot install an external siren directly to the L5000 wireless alarm control panel. If you need external sirens, you should use the Honeywell 5800WAVE wireless alarm siren or the Honeywell 5800RL wireless relay module which can be set up to sound a wired external siren.

The L5000 LYNX Touch control panel can be monitored by a central station in (3) different ways. You can simply connect an active POTS telephone line to the L5000 control panel and all alarm signals will be sent to the central station via your landline phone service. You can also add either the AlarmNet ILP5 internet alarm monitoring communicator or the AlarmNet GSMVLP5 cellular alarm communicator. The ILP5 requires broadband internet service and an Ethernet connection from your router to the ILP5 module which installs inside the LYNX Touch wireless alarm control panel. The GSMVLP5 is a wireless alarm communicator that utilizes AT&T’s cellular GSM network. When upgraded with an ILP5 or GSMVLP5, the LYNX Touch is compatible with AlarmNet’s Total Connect 2.0 interactive monitoring service. The Total Connect 2.0 service allows you to control and check on your LYNX Touch control panel using any web browser or internet enabled smartphone. There are free applications for the iPhone®, iPad®, Blackberry® and Android™ devices so you can stay in touch with your wireless home security system no matter where you are.

While the newer Honeywell L5100 LYNX Touch wireless alarm control panel supports home automation services through the Total Connect 2.0 interactive service, the L5000 uses the Honeywell 5800ZBRIDGE for home automation. The 5800ZBRIDGE allows you to wirelessly connect Z-Wave® thermostat modules and light modules to your L5000 LYNX Touch alarm control panel. These Z-Wave modules can then be programmed to turn thermostats and/or lights off when the L5000 is armed and then turn them back on when the LYNX Touch is disarmed.

I upgraded an old LYNXR-I that was in my house when I bought it. After lots of trying, I wasn't able to get the LYNXR-I working but didn't want to waste all of the sensors that were already installed in the house. I called Alarm Grid for advice and they told me the l5000 would allow me to use all of my existing sensors. Sterling walked me through programming each sensor into the l5000 and it's worked great so far.

If you press More > Tools > enter Installer Code > Program > down arrow > System Settings, you can simply disable the Auto Stay Arming feature so that the system does arm to away even if an entry/exit door isn't opened and closed during the exit delay.
Thanks Frank, this helps me out. It makes sense now on why after arming the system it says alarm stay and not alarm away. I do not at this timer have the door sensors installed so the system never sees that the person has left the home so it is in stay mode and the motion sensors are not active.
Wes, You are probably running into two tricky technologies that are throwing you off: transmission lockout and auto-stay arming. Check out our FAQ that details each technology and why it is most likely the culprit for your testing failures: https://www.alarmgrid.com/faq/how-do-i-test-my-honeywell-5800pir-res-wireless-motion-detector
I have a L5000 system that I am installing in my home and I am running into a problem with my Honeywell's 5800PIR Series of Wireless Motion Detectors. I have entered them into the system with each serial number and zones and when I do a walk thru test the system see's each fault go off but when I actually go to and set the alarm away, after it is armed and I go to test the motion sensor zones the system never goes off when I set off each motion sensor, can you tell me what I am missing on adding and making them work after arming the system?Wes
Hi Pat, Do you have the L5000 system? If so, you'll have four physical buttons under the touchscreen and the buttons will have a symbol AND word on each button. Also, if your system being monitored by an alarm company now?
I got a 103Comm. Trouble Icon and several beeps. My Users Guide gives no directions on the actions to take. However, I get a beep about every 30 seconds, and cannot shut it off. Is there something I can do, or do I need to call someone?
