Fujifilm FinePix X100S features a new 16.3 MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor, the on-chip phase-detection pixels along with the faster EXR Processor II which provide the world's fastest AF in as little as 0.08 seconds. The world's first 'Digital Split Image' feature, which displays dual images on the left and right to be lined up for fast manual focusing. The Fujinon 23mm F/2 fixed fixed prime lens offering superb image quality. The Hybrid (OVF and EVF) Viewfinder offers expanded freedom in the composition and enjoyment of photography in a range of challenging shooting conditions.
Thanks to the lack of optical low pass filter (OLPF) and a new, unique pixel array, this sensor delivers a resolution to rival a full-frame camera. The removal of the optical low-pass filter allows the X-Trans CMOS II sensor to maximize the light it receives directly, enabling users to capture much finer detail and optimize resolution levels.
In the X-Trans CMOS II sensor, the optimized circuits elevate the S/N ratio and produce a clean signal that is enhanced by the powerful new EXR Processor II for a further increase in image quality.
This X-Trans CMOS II sensor also has built-in Phase Detection pixels which provide the X100S with the world's fastest AF in as little as 0.08 seconds. Additionally, the EXR Processor II offers very speedy response times with a start-up time of approx. 0.5 seconds, and a shooting interval of 0.5 seconds, it also raises the maximum continuous shooting speed to 6fps. Plus with its shutter time lag of only 0.01 seconds, so you can capture the precise instant you wish to and enjoy a comfortable shooting experience.
The X100S camera's new Hybrid Viewfinder offering expanded freedom in the composition and enjoyment of photography in a range of challenging shooting conditions. Whether you're framing your shot through the Optical Viewfinder (OVF), or Electronic Viewfinder (EVF), your eye will not only see the subject and scene, but also a range of shooting data projected by an integrated high-resolution, 2,360K-dot LCD panel. This perfect marriage of intuitive analog operation and state-of-the-art digital functionality gives birth to the discovery of new dimensions of enjoyment behind the lens of the ultimate compact.
The X100S is the world's first camera to offer a 'Digital Split Image' feature, which displays dual images on the left and right to be lined up for manual focusing. This enables accurate focusing especially when working with an open aperture or macro shooting. What's more there is a handy Focus Peak Highlight function, which shows you precisely which area of your composition is in focus.
The X100S features the FUJINON 23mm (35mm equivalent to 35-mm film format) f/2 Single Focal Length Lens delivers an angle of view ideal for a diverse range of subjects, scenes and whatever captures the photographer's eye.
This high quality lens deliver a high level of detailed performance with minimal aberration, excellent sharpness and beautiful color reproduction in a compact body. Its built-in 3-stop ND filter enables blurring of the background in portraits, or applies a gorgeous creamy look to flowing water even in a bright setting.
The X100S shoots stunning 1920x1080/60p full-HD video and can record crisp, clear audio at the same time using an optional external stereo microphone. Just press the playback zoom in button any time while shooting to switch to 3x digital zoom, tripling the lens focal length to 105mm (35mm format equivalent). Shooting movies at the high bit-rate of 36Mbps results in enhanced image quality and clarity that reveals every detail from individual leaves in the trees to subtle changes in facial expression. You can also take advantage of Monochrome and the vivid colour expression of other Film Simulation modes.
The X100S features Fujifilm's proprietary 'Film Simulation Modes'. Users can choose from ten simulation options which replicate the results achieved by FUJIFILM color reversal films (Velvia / PROVIA / ASTIA), professional color negative films (PRO Neg. Std / PRO Neg. Hi), monochrome filters (MONOCHROME, Ye filter, R filter and G filter) and SEPIA. Also available on the X100S is an Advanced Filter functions; Users can choose from 8 different artistic effects.

The exceptional performance of the lens, viewfinder and rich functionality are all packaged into a compact body that fits comfortably in the palm of your hand.
Made from strong, yet lightweight, die-cast magnesium, the X100S's top and base enhance the camera's overall feel and create an impression of solidity and durability. A specially-formulated coating is applied to give its surface a steel look for an added premium feel. All the high precision parts including the aperture ring, shutter speed dial and exposure compensation dial which are all milled from solid metal, with attention paid to the finer details such as finger grips and enhanced operability. The exterior is finished with synthetic leather, which is durable and resilient to the environment yet reproduces the texture of real leather, while still offering the practical benefits of additional grip and comfort.
The layout of the dials and rings allows users to operate the aperture ring on the lens with their left hand and the shutter speed dial and exposure compensation dial on the top panel with their right hand, meaning all the settings can be adjusted comfortably without having to take your eye off the viewfinder. Everything is ideally positioned so you can concentrate on composing your shot. You are in complete control with a choice of aperture priority AE, shutter speed priority AE, program AE and manual exposure control.
The menu system has been also updated to incorporate a Q (Quick menu) button which allows you to quickly call up frequently-used menu items such as ISO setting and Film Simulation modes. In addition, the Fn (Function) button allows users to assign functions frequently used while shooting, for convenient use at the touch of the button.
