If you do an internet search for BG-E10 you will find quite a few compatible from third-party manufacturers, but so far we have not seen a genuine Canon BG-E10 grip. Our guess is that Canon feels there will be insufficient demand for a grip to fit this entry-level model, but has left its options open. Nothing fits looks and performs like genuine Canon parts, for that reason, insist on them. 7-page PDF 174 KB Canon C51-4001 Parts Catalog Battery Grip BG-ED3. The Canon BG-E5 Battery Grip is a great accessory for the Canon EOS Rebel XSi / 450D and Canon EOS Rebel XS / 1000D DSLR cameras. I'm looking for a downloadable version of either the Canon BG-E6 and/or Canon BG-E7 battery grips. I find that I read the manual more having a download copy, than having to actually dig for the box where I put the manual in.
Thanks

The grip doesn't come with a manual. It comes with a huge sheet of paper that's folded into many sections. There's really not much to the section containing the instructions. Was there anything in particular you wanted to know about your grip?

there really isn't much to read about.
Just know the grip has a secret door holding compartment on the stalk part that goes into the battery area.

Ahh. Just never read them. I'm a 'shoot first, ask questions later' kind of guy. Yeah, the grip is practically easy to figure out. Sometimes out of boredom or when I really get stuck, I pull out the manual and skim through it. I don't like reading paper manuals/instructions. I just forgot where I put the box for the grip, which I planned to use for the 'Show your boxes' thread. The box had the instructions.

It doesn't. Not in the sense that it drains one so far and then shifts to the other for a while. It pretty much load-balances so that both batteries have about the same remaining capacity.

i dont always put the battery in the right slot, (as i currently only have on battery). does this make a difference to battery life, if I use left or right slots?
I have noticed the canon battery lasts up to twice as long as the AA set.
and I have also noticed that the recharge performance is now only two boxes not three boxes.?
But the OEM grip is almost idiot proof..Love it

It won't affect battery life, but presumably (since Canon marks, or did in earlier grips, one slot as the one for single-battery use) it makes a difference in performance in some way.
AA cells don't have the power you might think. 6x2000 mAH AA cells don't produce 12000 mAH at the 7.5V your camera draws; they produce more like 2000, and don't have as good a 'power curve' as the Li Ion camera battery does.
Batteries do, over time, wear out. Too frequent recharging, or overheating the batteries, can accelerate this.

My reason or at least one of them is if I am shooting a movie or even a burst , does it switch .
Wait for idle time - what does it do when I charge the 3rd , and put in ? Everything off the 3rd until it reach other battery charge . On the XTI , I had / have 3 sets and swapped as a set .
Still watching for manual , I find - I will post .

The Canon BG-E5 Battery Grip is a great accessory for the Canon EOS Rebel XSi / 450D and Canon EOS Rebel XS / 1000D DSLR cameras. I personally shoot in vertical/portrait orientation as much as in horizontal/landscape orientation. Having the vertical grip allows me to shoot from a much more comfortable and much more stable position - and gives me more control over larger lenses. The BG-E5 makes the grip on these small compatible cameras nicer to use - especially for long sessions in vertical orientation.

The BG-E5 accepts two Canon LP-E5 Battery Packs or six AA batteries in the included holder. Two LP-E5s yield twice the number of shots as one before a charging is needed - a very nice benefit. A second battery is not required - The BG-E5 works fine with a single LP-E5.

Canon

The BG-E5 installs into the DSLR's battery compartment. The original battery door is easily removable and the BG-E5 plugs in. The attachment is completed by screwing the BG-E5 into the camera's tripod adaptor threads. The BG-E5 provides its own tripod adapter threads - this functionality is not lost. The battery grip provides controls and shutter release identical to the camera's grip.

The only Canon BG-E5 Battery Grip downside I can think of (other than having to purchase it) is the extra size and weight it adds to the camera body. The BG-E5 measures 0.5 x 3.8 x 2.8' (128 x 96.4 x 70.7mm). It adds 1.63' (41mm) to the height of the camera when attached. It weighs 8.1 oz (230g) without batteries.

One of the benefits of the BG-E5-compatible DSLRs is that they are small. When 'small' is your top priority, simply remove the BG-E5 and put the battery door back on. It is easy and quick.

I have been using the BG-E5 on the XSi I reviewed and will be moving it to the XS as I review it. My only complaint is that my middle finger rests on the attachment wheel in the front, but it is not a significant issue in my opinion. Otherwise, it works great - It is a worth-having accessory.
